I was the
Officer in Charge (2LT) of the JTAD unit at the District HQ in Khe Sanh
village from Oct. 1967 until we had to abandon our post after being attacked
in Jan. 21-22, 1968 by an NVA battalion. We were helicoptered out to the
Marine Corps Combat Base at Khe Sanh. From there, I went to Hue (before it
was attacked and captured during Tet), Danang, Saigon, and was in Quang Tri
City at the Tet Offensive. My unit was then assigned to Dong Ha at the 3rd
Marine Div. HQ. until I left Vietnam in Oct. 1968. |

I was attached to smiat in 1965 when they lost their supply sgt. Ltc marcotte was my commander then. I was only with them for a month or so until their new supply guy showed up. I knew sgt daugherty and lived with bill elder and four others in a house in saigon. ltc marcotte wrote me a nice letter of appreciation to my next commander when I left. Those were the good old days... Msg Jerome (Jerry) Vaughan.

You have a great site. Very informative. Finally an answer to what my brother's job dealt with while stationed in Vietnam. He was quiet about it. Thanks

I was at CICV which was part of the 519th or 525th in 70 & 71. I often wonder about so many people that I never saw after VN. It is like a chapter of your life is missing. After returning I was assigned to the 115th MI Group in KC.
The mention of Holabird makes me think of Dundalk Dollies and butter bars chasing seasoned sgts in trenchcoats;what a hoot it was.
